This is one of 3 coffee tables designed by the Dutch designer/inventor Koos Verhoeff that I built in the early and mid 90s.  He is a retired computer science professor from the University of Rotterdam whom I met at an art and mathematics conference at SUNY-Albany in 1992.  Koos’s many clever designs and ingenious discoveries have been for me both educational and inspirational.

Here are various links to more information about Koos and his designs:

Although I have not recently built any of Koos’s designs, and I’m more interested now in making new work than in reproducing older work, I do know that Koos has very many more dramatic designs that would lend themselves to being executed at the scale of furniture.
